On Saturday, Sept. 30 and Sunday, Oct. 1, Spilamberto will host the "Mast còt" event, the cooking of must in the square.
The Museum of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, with the collaboration of the Consorteria of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena and the Municipality of Spilamberto, is organizing the Mast Còt event.
Balsamic is the excellence to be promoted and the target market to be addressed, and the promoters of the event have always worked to create initiatives around Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena that could enhance its typicality, without ever losing sight of the territorial context and the consequent need to also promote the other agrifood specificities of our land and the Modenese peculiarities in other areas, such as the motor industry.
A distinctive element of the event, which has the patronage of the Emilia-Romagna Region, is the rite of cooking the must under the open sky in the characteristic cauldrons, ruled over a slow fire by the Masters of the Communities that adhere to the Consorteria, the true birth act of traditional balsamic. This year an initiative called StuzzicaLamberto will be revived: food and wine tasting itineraries that aim to promote the economic development and attendance of the entire area covered by Mast Còt, as well as showing pairings of Traditional Balsamic in cooking, both according to tradition and proposing contaminations, in a spirit of cultural exchange and promotion of good living and good eating.
